Further to yesterday's post, these photos are by Judith Martinez as well. Her photos are encouraging me to savour the small things. Does that make it sound like I eat grasshoppers? I think you know what I mean.
I like being reminded to open my eyes, look around, and enjoy all the many small, beautiful things - only some of which are edible.
My daughters and I have contributed to The Blog of Small Things, which features the story book character Violet Mackerel created by Anna Branford. You can write in and share small things you have found. We all enjoy the Violet Mackerel books and love the detailed and expressive illustrations by Sarah Davis. There are four books in the series so far, and we look forward to Violet's next adventure, none of which have involved eating grasshoppers - so far.

I love small things too. And I love Violet's blog. I immediately hopped over to our local library's website and reserved the books for us to read. Thanks for the pointer.
ReplyDeleteWe all need to be reminded to open our eyes and see the beauty and preciousness in the small and the everyday. The general "busy-ness" of our lives tends to blind us to it. Sometimes I try to look at my world as if I'm a traveller with fresh eyes and an inquisitive mind. But mostly I just rush on through.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post and photos. I don't suppose I ever will savour a grasshopper but if I did, it would probably be a lovely pink one like that. I imagine it would taste a bit like turkish delight after all those roses.
